Fans on social media express sadness as Leon Bailey picks up another injury

Aston Villa fans haven’t seen a lot of Leon Bailey as the Jamaican international has struggled with injuries since his move from Bayer Leverkusen, and Dean Smith confirmed he’s suffered yet another setback just weeks after returning.

The 24-year-old has made three appearances in all competitions for Villa, scoring one goal with one assist, but a thigh problem is expected to keep him out until after the October international break.

Fans on social media are understandably upset as Bailey has looked good in flashes but hasn’t had enough minutes overall and now it will be a long wait to have him back.

Villa travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Saturday, September 25 before travelling to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, October 3. Then they’ll have a weekend off for the international break before returning to action against Wolverhampton Wanderers on October 16.

Bailey scored 15 goals with 11 assists in his final season at Leverkusen, but he’s only amassed 85 minutes of football in a Villa shirt, leaving the fans wanting. Many will hope Bailey can put these injury woes behind him when he returns.
