Aston Villa U23s thrashed Stoke City 8-0 at Clayton Wood on Monday night and Carney Chukwuemeka was one of many who impressed. The 17-year-old scored two goals on the night and registered two assists, so he was a thorn in the Potters’ side and couldn’t resist marking the occasion with an Instagram post.

Chukwuemeka set up one goal for Jaden Philogene-Bidace and another for his brother Caleb Chukwuemeka against Stoke, before going on to score twice either side of halftime. The England U19 international has already been promoted to the senior squad by Dean Smith on account of his form in the reserves, so his latest performance will go down well with the coaching staff.
Chukwuemeka has made three appearances in the first-team this season, amassing 184 minutes of playing time. The 17-year-old was an unused substitute in Villa’s 3-2 defeat to Watford and 2-0 win over Newcastle United before playing 63 minutes in their 1-1 draw with Brentford. He was then out of the matchday in Villa’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea and 3-0 win over Everton before returning to the bench in the 1-0 win over Manchester United.
Chukwuemeka has started both League Cup games for Villa and is sure to get more opportunities in the first-team as the season goes on. He was once regarded as the best 16-year-old in the country, so he’s the worst-kept secret in football.
