Tyrone Mings played a full 90 minutes as Aston Villa suffered a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon and posted about his disappointment with the result on Instagram. It was the Villans’ first defeat in three games and the first time Mings conceded a goal for 207 minutes.

The 28-year-old had 62 touches, won eight aerial duels, attempted 52 passes, blocked two shots, gave away just one foul, had one tackle, had one interception and made one clearance against Spurs. He was dominant in the air and threw his body into challenges to stop the Lilywhites scoring but came out on the losing team.

Mings has made six Premier League appearances this season, notching one assist. He’s conceded nine goals at centre-back and has kept three clean sheets, so Villa’s defence are all the better for Mings being a part of it.

Dean Smith has opted for a three-man backline, rotating Mings, Ezri Konsa, Axel Tuanzebe and Kortney Hause, but they didn’t keep Tottenham quiet. Villa shipped 17 shots and eight of them were on target, so it’s easy to see why Mings was ‘disappointed’.

After the international break, Villa host Wolverhampton Wanderers on October 16.
