Trezeguet is still out of action with injury, but he’s managed to cheer himself up if his Instagram is anything to go by. The 27-year-old was all smiles while celebrating his son’s birthday and posted two pictures on social media to mark the occasion.
Trezeguet has been sidelined since April after suffering a knee ligament injury in Villa’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last season. He underwent surgery to fix the problem and remains on the treatment table. And although the Egyptian international posted that he’d be ‘back soon’ in August, there’s been no change in October.
Trezeguet has made a total of 63 appearances in all competitions since joining on a four-year deal from Kasimpasa, scoring nine goals with five assists. His future at Villa Park is up in the air, however, as he’ll have stiff competition for a starting place upon his return to fitness.
Dean Smith brought in Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City and Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, so Trezeguet has El Ghazi, Bertrand Traore, Jaden Philogene-Bidace and the two new signings standing in his way.
And after scoring just two goals and making one assist in 21 Premier League games last season, Trezeguet hasn’t exactly staked his claim to be retained.
