Fans quiet on social media as Aston Villa are linked with Paul Onuachu

Aston Villa aren’t short of strikers with Danny Ings, Ollie Watkins, Cameron Archer, Keinan Davis and Wesley Moraes at their disposal, but Corriere dello Sport say they’re after another – Paul Onuachu.

The 27-year-old is coming off the back of a prolific campaign at KRC Genk and has picked up where he left off this season, so it’s no surprise clubs in Europe are finally catching wind of his quality.

Onuachu joined Genk from FC Midtjylland in 2019 and has gone on to make 87 appearances in all competitions, scoring 57 goals with seven assists. The Nigerian international had nine goals from 22 First Division A games in 2019/20 but scored an impressive 29 goals from 33 league games in 2020/21.

He’s bagged 10 goals in 12 this campaign, so Villa could have their hands on a very prolific striker. Supporters on social media haven’t been too vocal about the rumours, however.

Davis and Wesley have uncertain futures at Villa as they’ve been short of form, fitness and playing time, but Archer could be a fixture in the first-team after impressing at youth level. Nevertheless, Onuachu might be too good to turn down if Villa have a chance to land his signature.
