Fans on social media praise ‘fantastic’ John McGinn for ‘brilliant’ performance

Aston Villa won 2-0 against Norwich City on Tuesday evening and John McGinn delivered a magnificent performance. The 27-year-old started alongside Douglas Luiz and Jacob Ramsey in midfield and was given a player rating of 8/10 by Birmingham Live for his contribution at Carrow Road.

No player created more chances, no player had more successful dribbles, no player had more accurate crosses and only one player made more tackles than McGinn over the 90 minutes, so it was no surprise that supporters on social media showered the the Scottish international in praise.

Against Norwich, McGinn had 71 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 87.3% of his 55 passes, created three chances, had one shot on target from distance, whipped in seven crosses with two finding a teammate, made three tackles, had one clearance, gave away three fouls and had two successful dribbles.

The 27-year-old has made 16 Premier League appearances this season, scoring three goals with two assists. McGinn was a regular under Dean Smith and has been under Steven Gerrard as he’s a brilliant box-to-box player. He helped shut Norwich down on more than one occasion and was rightly praised.
