Keinan Davis has been short of form, fitness and playing time at Aston Villa this season, raising uncertainty over his long-term future under Steven Gerrard. The 23-year-old finds himself behind Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings in the pecking order, so he’s sought himself a loan move away for more opportunities.

John Percy of the Telegraph says Davis is closing in on a move to Nottm Forest until the end of the season. The former England U20 international joined Villa from Biggleswade Town in 2015 and has gone on to make 86 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals with seven assists.

Davis amassed 263 minutes of Premier League football last season and has just 11 minutes of top-flight football to his name this campaign. It makes sense for him to leave and fans on social media hope he’ll find his scoring boots at a lower level.

Davis’ contract is up in 2024, so Villa aren’t obligated to cash in early or for cheap. But Gerrard has a decision to make next summer. Wesley Moraes isn’t good enough to force his way back into the side, so is Davis?
