Jacob Ramsey scored two goals as Aston Villa drew 3-3 with Leeds United on Wednesday evening and was understandably happy with his contribution – fans and media figures alike were full of praise for his performance.
The 20-year-old’s first goal saw him collect a brilliant through ball from Philippe Coutinho and fire low past Ilhan Meslier while on the run. Ramsey’s second goal also came from a Coutinho assist, having made a darting run through the middle from deep – Ramsey fired into the top corner from inside the area.
He’s been a regular in midfield this season and is now being considered for international duty at senior level, so few could blame Ramsey for soaking up all the praise with a self-congratulatory social media post. The England U21 international put up a picture on his Instagram account, celebrating his goal and also hailing Coutinho’s contribution.
Ramsey has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring five goals with one assist. No Villa player has more goals in the Premier League than the 20-year-old and now an England call-up could be on the horizon, so the future is bright.
