Journalists praise ‘pleasing’ Digne v Burnley

Aston Villa enjoyed a 3-1 win over Burnley on Saturday afternoon and Lucas Digne was one of many players who impressed. The 28-year-old started at left-back and grabbed his second assist in a Villa shirt, firing a low cross for Emiliano Buendia to convert from close range.

No Villa player created more chances than Digne, no player whipped in as many crosses, only one player had more interceptions and only one player made more tackles. The French international was effective at both ends of the pitch, drawing praise from journalists.

Ashley Preece of Birmingham Live gave Digne a player rating of 8/10 and called his creativity ‘fantastic’. Preece also noted that the 28-year-old was good defensively and offensively against Burnley. Grey Whitebloom of 90min gave a player rating of 7/10 and said he made a real ‘impact’ in attack while also doing the dirty work.

Finally, Cole Pettem of 7500 to Holte gave Digne a player rating of 7/10 and said was a ‘constant threat’ for Villa, delivering a ‘pleasing performance’ throughout.

Against Burnley, Digne played for 90 minutes, had 63 touches, won two aerial duels, completed 83.8% of his 37 passes, created three chances, whipped in six crosses with 33% accuracy, made two tackles, had one interception and one clearance.
