Frederic Guilbert’s loan spell at Racing Strasbourg has come to an end. He re-joined the Ligue 1 outfit last summer and went on to make 34 appearances in all competitions, grabbing four assists. The 27-year-old greatly impressed at the Stade de la Meinau but isn’t turning the move permanent, so he’ll return to Aston Villa for pre-season.

Guilbert has made just three appearances for Villa since his debut campaign in 2019/20, so he’s been on the periphery for two years. The uncapped Frenchman has been loaned out for the last 18 months and finds himself behind Matty Cash and Ashley Young in the pecking order, so it’s hard to see him having a future at Villa Park.

Supporters have been dying to know what is next for Guilbert, so they’ve been asking his wife Noemie Boutry for more information. She’s responded to the constant questioning, pleading with fans to stop messaging her as she isn’t going to reveal anything. She said she’s focused on the summer with her family, going to weddings and having holidays.

Boutry said on Instagram: “Please do not write to me for information on the transfer window. I will not communicate anything at all. You know I’ve been repeating it for a long time, but we don’t have to communicate anything, whether there’s anything or not, it seems logical.

“My head is on the holidays, nothing else. Then here I share my little views, those of the girls.. but the less we talk about football, the better.” Guilbert has made 32 appearances in all competitions for Villa, scoring three goals with three assists, but will he add to his tally? It’s hard to see how he’ll dethrone Supporters Player of the Year Cash.
