Aston Villa Add Indonesia And Thailand Friendlies To Asia Pre-Season Schedule

Aston Villa have added two more Asia friendlies to Unai Emery’s pre-season schedule, with Indonesia All Stars and BG Pathum United now confirmed as summer opponents.

The club announced on Monday, June 22, that Villa will face Indonesia All Stars at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on Saturday, August 1, with kick-off at 7pm local time, before travelling to Thailand to meet BG Pathum United at True BG Stadium in Pathum Thani on Tuesday, August 4 at 7.30pm local time, according to Aston Villa’s official fixture update.

Villa’s summer schedule now has a clear Asia block

The update also changes a previously announced fixture. Villa’s friendly against Real Sociedad, initially listed for Saturday, July 25, has been moved to Tuesday, July 28 at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium, with kick-off set for 7.30pm.

That gives Emery’s squad a tighter summer path: Walsall first, Real Sociedad after the date change, then Jakarta and Thailand before the marquee Bayern Munich meeting in Hong Kong on Friday, August 7.

For supporters, the significance is simple. Villa’s pre-season is no longer just a local tune-up followed by one overseas showpiece. It is now a proper Asia tour, with commercial reach, travel rhythm and squad management all becoming part of the build-up before the UEFA Super Cup against PSG and the new Premier League campaign.
