Aston Villa Women have confirmed the signing of Denmark international Amalie Vangsgaard from Juventus for an undisclosed fee, pending visa approval.
The 29-year-old forward arrives from the Italian champions after two years in Turin, giving Natalia Arroyo another senior attacking option before the new Women’s Super League season.
Villa announced the deal on Wednesday, while Juventus also confirmed Vangsgaard’s permanent move to England. The transfer adds proven European experience to a squad already being reshaped before pre-season.
Villa Add Proven European Firepower
Vangsgaard brings a useful blend of penalty-box presence, senior experience and continental pedigree.
Flashscore records her with 11 goals in 62 appearances for Juventus, while her wider career has included spells with Paris Saint-Germain, Linköping, Nordsjaelland, Ballerup-Skovlunde and Fortuna Hjørring.
Her international record adds further weight to the move. Vangsgaard has been a regular Denmark senior international since 2022 and was part of the squad that qualified for next year’s Women’s World Cup.
Villa’s director of women’s football Marisa Ewers described Vangsgaard as a player with “proven quality and experience at the highest level”, underlining the club’s intention to add ready-made authority rather than only developmental depth.
For Arroyo, this is a sensible piece of squad construction. Villa have already moved to refresh their attacking options this summer, and Vangsgaard gives them a specialist central profile capable of competing immediately.
Read Aston Villa has already covered Kamilla Melgård’s arrival from Madrid CFF, and Vangsgaard’s signing points to a clear recruitment push around Villa Women before pre-season sharpens.
The logic is easy to follow. Melgård lowers the age curve and adds midfield upside. Vangsgaard brings senior edge, penalty-box know-how and a forward option Arroyo can trust quickly.
Villa needed more quality and variety in the final third. This move gives them both, without waiting for a younger player to carry the whole attacking load.
