Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move for Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara as Unai Emery reshapes his options in the centre of the pitch.
Turkish outlet Sporx reports that Villa remain interested in the former Norwich City player, who has also been tracked by Newcastle United.
The Brazilian has been on Villa’s radar since earlier this year. Galatasaray are believed to be open to considering offers, although reports have placed their valuation between €30m and €40m.
Sara joined the Turkish club from Norwich in 2024 and is contracted until June 2029. He has since registered 23 direct goal contributions across 87 appearances.
His ability to operate centrally or in a more advanced midfield position could appeal to Emery following major changes at Villa Park.
Sara considered as Villa rebuild midfield
Villa have lost Youri Tielemans to Manchester United, while Amadou Onana suffered a serious knee injury during Belgium’s World Cup campaign.
Boubacar Kamara has also been recovering from his own knee problem, leaving Emery short of established central options before the new season.
Johan Manzambi is expected to arrive from Freiburg after Villa moved ahead of Newcastle in the race for the Switzerland international. However, another midfielder could still be required to provide sufficient depth for Premier League and Champions League football.
As Read Aston Villa recently reported, Bayern Munich’s João Palhinha is another player under consideration following Tielemans’ departure.
Sara would offer a more attack-minded alternative. He already understands English football after making 96 appearances for Norwich and contributed 25 goals and 21 assists during his time at Carrow Road.
Villa have not yet submitted a formal offer, while Newcastle and other Premier League clubs could provide competition. Galatasaray’s asking price will determine whether Emery’s interest develops into negotiations.
