Alejandro Garnacho’s Aston Villa transfer has been agreed after Unai Emery personally drove the move. Villa will sign the Chelsea winger on loan with a conditional obligation to buy him permanently.
The Athletic reports that Garnacho has completed his medical. The 22-year-old is already in Birmingham, while a four-year contract is ready if the permanent clause is activated.
Emery wanted to sign Garnacho before his £40million move from Manchester United to Chelsea. The Villa manager has now convinced the Argentina international to continue his career at Villa Park.
Garnacho remained away from Chelsea’s pre-season training while his representatives worked on an exit. Xabi Alonso had allowed the winger to focus on securing a transfer.

Villa moved quickly after identifying a new wide attacker as a priority. Johan Manzambi is viewed as the direct replacement for Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea for £117million.
Garnacho will instead add pace and direct running from the left. He scored eight goals across all competitions last season but started only 14 Premier League matches.
Villa submitted their first official Garnacho proposal on Tuesday. The initial offer included a loan and purchase clause, with talks also progressing on the player’s side.
The final agreement contains a conditional obligation rather than an immediate permanent transfer. That structure could help Villa protect the full UEFA accounting profit from the Rogers sale.
UEFA can treat two transfers between the same clubs within 45 days as a player-exchange transaction. However, the Garnacho deal may only become permanent once the relevant conditions are met.
The exact obligation terms and future fee have not been disclosed. UEFA could still examine the arrangement if it believes the conditions are almost certain to be triggered.
