Aston Villa view Arsenal’s Ezri Konsa approach as ‘insulting’

Aston Villa reportedly viewed Arsenal’s approach for Ezri Konsa as “quite insulting” because the clubs remain far apart on valuation. The Ezri Konsa Arsenal transfer now looks difficult unless the Gunners significantly improve their position.

Ben Jacobs, in comments relayed by Talking Highbury, said Arsenal contacted Villa to enquire about the England defender. However, the approach was not necessarily a formal or written bid.

Jacobs added that a “huge gulf” remains between the clubs’ valuations. Villa were unimpressed by Arsenal’s position and have given no indication that they plan to lower their demands.

Aston Villa stand firm on Ezri Konsa Arsenal transfer

Konsa remains one of Unai Emery’s most dependable defenders. He can play at centre-back or right-back, while his contract runs until 2028.

The 28-year-old also returned from the World Cup with his reputation enhanced. Konsa scored as England secured third place with a 6-4 victory over France.

Previous reports placed Villa’s valuation at around £60million. Arsenal want another versatile defender because William Saliba faces a possible spell out with a back injury.

Villa have already sold Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for £117million this summer. However, that departure does not create any pressure to accept a reduced offer for Konsa.

Losing the defender would leave Emery needing another important replacement. Villa must already manage several major changes before the new Premier League season begins.

Arsenal may return with a stronger proposal during the coming weeks. For now, the Ezri Konsa Arsenal transfer remains stalled by a substantial valuation gap.
