Aston Villa have not abandoned their pursuit of Palmeiras attacker Allan despite seeing their opening proposal rejected.
A second Aston Villa bid for Allan is now being considered, although the Brazilian club remain adamant that he will not leave during their current season.
Villa initially offered €25million plus a further €5m through achievable bonuses for the 22-year-old.
Palmeiras immediately rejected that package and informed Allan’s representatives that they would not enter negotiations. Both manager Abel Ferreira and president Leila Pereira regard the versatile attacker as an important part of their plans.
However, ESPN Brazil journalists Bruno Andrade and André Hernan claim Villa remain interested and are studying an improved approach.
“The information I’ve received is that Aston Villa haven’t given up,” Andrade said, as relayed by Sport Witness.
“They’re preparing, or at least studying, a new offer in the hope of convincing Palmeiras.”
Second Aston Villa bid for Allan faces major obstacle
Hernan has received similar information from sources close to Allan, but does not expect another summer offer to change Palmeiras’ position.
The Brazilian club are not currently working towards a specific asking price. Their priority is keeping Allan while they compete for major honours during the remainder of the domestic season.
That leaves Villa with a decision. They could submit an improved offer now or maintain contact before returning when the Brazilian campaign finishes.
ReadAstonVilla previously reported that Villa’s opening €30m package for Allan was rejected.
Allan can operate from the right, centrally or behind the striker. His ability to carry possession and beat defenders would give Unai Emery another direct attacking option.
A second Aston Villa bid for Allan appears increasingly possible. However, January may offer a more realistic opportunity if Palmeiras continue refusing summer negotiations.
