The Villa Park redevelopment has reached another major milestone after construction crews completely removed the old North Stand roof. Fresh footage shows how dramatically Aston Villa’s historic home has changed as work continues on the £100million project.
The North Stand now sits fully exposed after workers dismantled the final sections of its roof structure. The change has altered Villa Park’s familiar skyline and cleared the way for the next major phase of construction.
Football Ground Guide reports that fresh footage filmed over the weekend confirms the roof has now disappeared completely. The heavy-lift crane used during the demolition has also finished its work and crews have started dismantling it.
Villa Park redevelopment moves into next phase
Work continues elsewhere around the stadium. Construction teams have started installing new steelwork near the Holte End corners, while crews are preparing foundations between the North Stand and Trinity Road Stand.
Aston Villa accelerated the project earlier this year and will keep the North Stand closed throughout the 2026/27 campaign. The redevelopment will add more than 5,500 seats and eventually take Villa Park’s capacity beyond 50,000.
The club plans to reopen the redeveloped stand for the start of the 2027/28 season. Workers will retain and refurbish parts of the existing structure while adding a new roof and improving facilities around the stand.
The transformation continues while Unai Emery and his players prepare for the new season thousands of miles away. ReadAstonVilla reported on Tuesday that Villa have arrived in Bangkok for the latest stage of their Asian pre-season tour.
Supporters returning to Villa Park later this summer will therefore find a stadium that looks very different from the one they left in May. The Villa Park redevelopment still has another year of work ahead, but the removal of the North Stand roof provides the clearest visual sign yet of the changes taking place.
