WATCH: Brian Madjo makes UEFA Super Cup history with Aston Villa equaliser

Brian Madjo has made UEFA Super Cup history after scoring Aston Villa’s equaliser against Paris Saint-Germain in Salzburg.

The 17-year-old pulled Unai Emery’s side level at 1-1 on an extraordinary night for the teenager, becoming the youngest goalscorer in UEFA Super Cup history.

Madjo is just 17 years and 212 days old and was only cleared to play competitive football for Villa earlier this month following a lengthy registration battle with FIFA.

Madjo’s goal completed a remarkable few weeks for one of Villa’s most exciting young talents.

The striker joined from Metz in January for a fee reported at around £10million, but FIFA initially prevented Villa from registering him because of regulations surrounding international transfers involving players under the age of 18.

Villa eventually won their appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with Reuters confirming Madjo had been cleared to play in official competitions.

ReadAstonVilla recently explained how Villa could finally unleash Madjo after their seven-month fight.

He had already given Emery plenty to think about during pre-season, scoring four times before being handed a huge opportunity against the Champions League holders.

Now he has taken it.

Scoring against PSG in a European final would represent a special moment for any player. Doing it at 17, on his competitive Villa debut and just days after finally receiving clearance to play, makes Madjo’s equaliser an extraordinary chapter in his young career.
