Aston Villa officially launch black-and-gold 2026/27 away kit

Aston Villa have officially unveiled their new adidas away kit for the 2026/27 season, confirming the black-and-gold design that had previously appeared in leaks.

The club released the strip on Thursday ahead of Unai Emery’s side beginning their Premier League campaign away to Brighton this weekend.

Villa have retained a predominantly black away shirt but introduced gold detailing alongside claret, blue and yellow elements, while Visit Rwanda appears on the front following the club’s new sponsorship agreement.

Aston Villa officially confirmed the launch on Thursday.

The new shirt features adidas’ retro Trefoil logo in gold alongside a standalone Villa lion rather than the full club badge.

Claret, sky blue and yellow detailing appears around the collar and sleeve cuffs.

A subtle graphic has also been incorporated into the black fabric, with the design inspired by Villa’s Founding Lamp and the club’s origins in 1874.

The final design closely follows details that emerged earlier in the summer.

Read Aston Villa reported in June that the leaked away shirt was expected to combine a black base with gold detailing, while the standalone lion and three-colour trim were also visible in early images.

Villa have now turned those leaks into an official release.

The shirt also carries Visit Rwanda branding after the tourism organisation became Villa’s principal front-of-shirt partner for the new campaign.

Read Aston Villa previously reported on the agreement, which represented another significant step in the club’s attempts to increase commercial revenue.

Villa’s accompanying launch film has also attracted attention among supporters.

One line asking “Where is Watkins?” has already generated discussion because of the continuing uncertainty surrounding Ollie Watkins and interest from Al-Hilal.

There is no indication the pre-produced marketing film provides any information about Watkins’ transfer situation, however, and it should not be interpreted as a hint over the striker’s future.

Instead, Thursday’s launch completes another major part of Villa’s 2026/27 kit collection just days before competitive domestic football returns.
