Aston Villa’s next Champions League match is against Fenerbahçe at Villa Park after Unai Emery’s side opened their 2026/27 league-phase campaign with victory over Club Brugge.
Villa came through a five-goal contest in Belgium to win 3-2, with John McGinn, Emi Buendía and Nicolas Jackson all scoring during an excellent first half.
UEFA has confirmed Villa now have more than a month before their second Champions League fixture, when Fenerbahçe travel to Birmingham on Wednesday 14 October.
That is followed only seven days later by another European night at Villa Park against Norwegian champions Viking.
Villa’s complete league-phase schedule then includes trips to Barcelona, Galatasaray and Slavia Prague, while Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are also due at Villa Park.

When is Aston Villa’s next Champions League game?
Villa next play in the Champions League on Wednesday 14 October, when Fenerbahçe visit Villa Park.
Kick-off is scheduled for 8pm BST.
It means Emery’s side have a lengthy gap between their first two European fixtures.
Domestic football takes priority in the meantime, beginning with Nottingham Forest at Villa Park before meetings with Coventry City and Tottenham.
Villa can approach that period with three Champions League points already secured after Nicolas Jackson scored his first goal for the club in the 3-2 victory over Club Brugge.
Fenerbahçe begin their own league-phase campaign against Roma on Thursday before travelling to Villa Park in October. UEFA has also handed the Turkish club later fixtures against Liverpool, Atlético Madrid and Villarreal.
Two straight Champions League games at Villa Park
The fixture calendar provides Villa with an opportunity to build on their successful start.
Fenerbahçe are followed by Viking at Villa Park on 21 October, meaning three of Villa’s opening four Champions League matches are either in Belgium or Birmingham.
Only after those consecutive home matches do Villa face arguably the standout away fixture of the league phase.
Emery takes his side to Barcelona on 3 November.
That begins a demanding section of the schedule which also includes an away meeting with Galatasaray before defending Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain arrive at Villa Park in December.
Borussia Dortmund provide Villa’s final home opponent on 19 January.
What do Aston Villa need to qualify?
The Champions League continues to use its 36-team league phase.
Each club plays eight matches against eight different opponents.
The top eight at the end of the league phase qualify directly for the last 16.
Teams finishing from ninth to 24th enter the knockout phase play-offs, while clubs finishing 25th or lower are eliminated.
Villa’s original Champions League squad guide details the players Emery has registered for the league phase, including Nicolas Jackson, João Gomes, Alejandro Garnacho and Ibrahim Mbaye.
Villa could hardly have asked for a better start in terms of points.
There are seven matches still to play, but victory in Bruges means Emery’s side already have three points before consecutive Champions League nights at Villa Park.
