Aston Villa have two players competing for the Premier League’s September Goal of the Month award after Nicolas Jackson and Emiliano Buendía were shortlisted for their strikes against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Premier League confirmed the eight-man shortlist, with supporters able to vote until 12pm BST on Monday 28 September.
Both Villa nominations come from the dramatic 3-2 victory in north London.
Jackson and Buendía earn Premier League nominations
Jackson scored Villa’s second after combining with Johan Manzambi before driving into the penalty area and finishing past the Tottenham goalkeeper.
The strike continued an encouraging run for the Senegal international, whose growing impact was highlighted in our Tottenham 2-3 Aston Villa match report.
Buendía then made it 3-0 with arguably the pick of Villa’s goals, producing an excellent finish before Tottenham threatened a late comeback.
Both players were among Villa’s standout performers, as reflected in our Aston Villa player ratings against Tottenham.
Jackson’s contribution was another important step after a challenging start following his summer move, with his Aston Villa player profile tracking his progress this season.
The pair are competing against Harvey Barnes, Bryan Mbeumo, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Bruno Guimarães, Lewis Dunk and Jay Dasilva.
Supporters can vote through the Premier League website before Monday’s deadline.
