Aston Villa defender and Sweden captain Victor Lindelöf heads into Monday’s meeting with Poland after injuries reduced Graham Potter’s defensive options.
Emil Holm and Hjalmar Ekdal have left the national squad, while striker Alexander Isak has also withdrawn ahead of the Nations League fixture.
The Swedish Football Association confirmed Ekdal and Isak’s departures on Sunday, describing their injuries as minor but sufficient to rule them out of the upcoming matches.
Sweden’s official match preview confirms that no replacements have been called up.
Holm had already withdrawn after suffering a hamstring injury during Friday’s 2-1 victory over Romania.
Victor Lindelöf prepares for possible Cash reunion
Lindelöf started alongside Carl Starfelt against Romania and remains in the squad for Poland’s visit to Strawberry Arena.
He could face Villa teammate Matty Cash, who started Poland’s opening goalless draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Neither player’s selection for Monday has yet been confirmed.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm BST, with Sweden seeking a second successive victory in Group B4.
The defensive withdrawals leave Potter with fewer alternatives during a window containing four competitive fixtures.
That gives Villa another reason to follow Lindelöf’s workload closely. His importance to Unai Emery’s defence has increased during Pau Torres’ absence.
After Poland, Sweden travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 2 October and Romania on 5 October.
