Aston Villa target tops THREE league charts as Benfica push for new contract

Aston Villa target Gianluca Prestianni reportedly leads Portugal’s top flight in three attacking measures, with Benfica working to secure the winger’s future.

According to Sport Witness, relaying Correio da Manhã’s assessment, the 20-year-old leads the league for shots, successful dribbles and fouls won.

The report credits him with 21 completed dribbles and 21 fouls drawn, underlining his growing influence in Benfica’s attack.

Gianluca Prestianni gives Villa scouts plenty to assess

Villa’s interest predates the latest statistical assessment.

Our earlier report on Villa’s scouting of Prestianni detailed checks during Benfica’s meeting with Porto, when the Argentine supplied an assist in a 3–1 defeat.

He had accumulated eight goals and three assists across 12 club appearances heading into the international break.

Tottenham and Atlético Madrid have also been linked, adding competition should Villa’s monitoring develop into a concrete approach.

Benfica discussing improved terms

Sport Witness also cites O Jogo’s reporting that Benfica president Rui Costa has opened discussions over an improved salary and contract extension.

An agreement has yet to be reached, according to that report.

Prestianni’s existing deal runs until June 2029 and reportedly contains a €100m release clause. That clause does not establish Benfica’s negotiating price.

For Villa, the latest figures add detail to the scouting picture. Successful dribbles and fouls won suggest a winger capable of drawing defenders into challenges, alongside his early-season goal output.

The reported interest remains at the assessment stage, with no Villa bid or agreement established.
