Aston Villa winger Ibrahim Mbaye provided the assist for Senegal’s winning goal against Comoros on Sunday, adding another decisive contribution to his international break.
Aston Villa confirmed Mbaye’s assist in the 1-0 friendly victory in Marseille, where Iliman Ndiaye scored after five minutes.
According to Pan Africa Football’s match report, Pape Matar Sarr released Mbaye down the left before the Villa attacker delivered a low cross for Ndiaye to finish.
That early goal proved enough to secure victory for Patrick Vieira’s side.
Mbaye adds assist to Ethiopia winner
The contribution followed Mbaye’s winning goal in Senegal’s 1-0 victory over Ethiopia earlier in the break.
Villa team-mate Nicolas Jackson supplied that goal, as recorded in the Premier League’s international round-up.
Mbaye therefore heads back towards club football having helped settle two matches for his country, first as the scorer and then as the provider.
He has already shown his ability to create a goal for Villa. On his first start against Coventry City, his corner supplied Ross Barkley’s header in a 3-1 Carabao Cup victory.
The two assists came in different situations: a set-piece delivery at Coventry and a cross following a forward run for Senegal.
Both offer encouragement as Mbaye works to establish himself in Unai Emery’s attack.
Villa return to Premier League action against Brentford at Villa Park on Saturday, with kick-off at 3pm BST.
