Ibrahim Mbaye joined Aston Villa from Paris Saint-Germain on Deadline Day in September 2026.
Villa paid around €55million, approximately £47million, for the Senegal international as Unai Emery completed one of the biggest rebuilds of his squad.
The club confirmed Mbaye as one of four late summer arrivals in its official transfer-window review.
Despite being only 18, Mbaye arrived at Villa Park with senior experience for Paris Saint-Germain, Champions League exposure and international football with Senegal.

Ibrahim Mbaye’s start at Aston Villa
Mbaye had to wait for his first opportunity following his Deadline Day move.
He was unavailable for Villa’s defeat against Arsenal before being named among the substitutes for the 0-0 draw at Hull City.

Mbaye was again among the substitutes when Villa beat Club Brugge 3-2 in their Champions League opener.

Mbaye primarily operates as a right winger.
He can attack from wide positions, drive inside with the ball and provide another direct threat in the final third.
Fantasy Premier League also classifies him as a midfielder, with Mbaye receiving a £6.0million starting price following his transfer to Villa.

His arrival gives Emery another option alongside Alejandro Garnacho, Emiliano Buendía and Villa’s other attacking players.
Mbaye’s pace and ball-carrying ability could become particularly useful when Villa face deep defensive blocks or need greater width in attack.
Ibrahim Mbaye’s career before Aston Villa
Mbaye developed through Paris Saint-Germain’s academy after previously playing youth football with ES Guyancourt and Versailles.
He made his senior PSG debut in August 2024.
The winger went on to make 32 Ligue 1 appearances across two seasons, scoring four league goals before joining Villa.
Mbaye was also part of a highly successful period in Paris, winning domestic honours and gaining experience around a Champions League-winning squad.
His development also continued internationally.
After representing France at youth level, Mbaye switched international allegiance to Senegal and became part of their senior setup.
That combination of club and international experience made him an unusually established signing for an 18-year-old.

Villa’s £47million investment shows how highly the club rate Mbaye’s long-term potential.
Emery has so far been patient with his introduction, leaving the winger unused against Hull and Club Brugge rather than immediately placing him into the starting XI.
That should not diminish his importance.
Mbaye has been signed as a first-team player and gives Villa a direct attacking profile that was missing during their difficult opening Premier League matches.
His challenge is now to force his way into Emery’s team as the season develops.
