Ross Barkley at Aston Villa

Initially, Barkley arrived at Villa Park on a season-long loan in September 2020. Immediately, he scored on his debut in a 7–2 win over Liverpool. Notably, Ollie Watkins claimed a hat-trick in that same match. Afterwards, Barkley finished the campaign with 24 league appearances and three goals. Subsequently, he returned to Chelsea for the following season.

Furthermore, Villa signed him permanently from Luton Town in July 2024. Specifically, he agreed a three-year contract at the club. Consequently, he became a regular option in Unai Emery’s midfield. Moreover, he collected a Europa League winners’ medal in May 2026. Presently, he wears the number six shirt at Villa Park.

Career Before Aston Villa

Previously, Ross Barkley came through the Everton academy on Merseyside. Eventually, he made 150 league appearances for the club. Additionally, he scored 21 league goals during that spell. Meanwhile, short loans took him to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United. Ultimately, Chelsea paid to take him south in January 2018.

Firstly, Barkley won the FA Cup with Chelsea in 2018. Secondly, he added the Europa League title the following year. Naturally, further silverware followed at the Club World Cup in 2021. Later, he spent a season at Nice in Ligue 1. Finally, Luton Town handed him 32 league appearances during 2023/24.
