Aston Villa have completed the signing of former Swansea winger Scott Sinclair after he joined on loan from Manchester City in January – the deal is believed to be worth around £2.5m. After Villa mathematically secured themselves Premier League status for yet another season, the deal was quickly announced on the Villa website.
This signing is key for Aston Villa going forward, he offers us something we have lacked for around 3-4 years now – basically since Ashley Young and Downing left the club, width. I fully expect Scott Sinclair to open us up a different dynamic of play for Villa.
What we have been missing in recent years has been technical ability, we have always had pace and power for example Agbonlahor who has been an ever present in recent times but we have never had the technical ability since the likes of James Milner left the club to join Manchester City and now it seems we have not an abundance but a good amount of players who can make an inch perfect pass like Grealish, Delph, Cleverley and now Sinclair.
Villa won’t underestimate this player’s ability, it’ll be a perfect fit. With Sherwood safety in his managerial seat for seasons to come and a good preseason behind he could do well, providing injuries don’t come his way.
We could see a real revival of an unpredictable side next season, not knowing if Villa will play down the centre with Delph and Cleverley taking advantage of the space in the middle or with a technically gifted winger down the left or right – which is the best way to go, to keep it unpredictable, especially when operating in a league of such attention to the finer detail.
A deal for a small price, presumably lower wages than he was on at Manchester City for a quality player it’s an all-round good deal by Tom Fox, Sherwood and Randy Lerner.
