Aston Villa reportedly asked Sevilla about Lucien Agoumé during their visit for the Antonio Puerta Trophy, with the Spanish club valuing the midfielder at €40million.
Sevilla outlet Orgullo Biri claims Villa’s sporting department enquired about the Frenchman after watching him at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
Its report, published on Sunday, says Sevilla would require an offer above €30m to begin negotiations.
Villa won Friday’s friendly 3-1, with Ross Barkley, Alejandro Garnacho and Max Jenner scoring in the second-half comeback against Sevilla.
Sevilla’s reported valuation presents Agoumé obstacle
Orgullo Biri reports that Agoumé played the opening 45 minutes and attracted attention from Unai Emery’s side.
The midfielder’s ability to recover possession and distribute the ball features prominently in the outlet’s assessment. It also names Arsenal and Manchester United among the clubs following him.
However, the report does not establish that Villa have submitted a bid, agreed personal terms or decided to pursue a January transfer.
The distinction matters: asking about a player’s availability and price is an early stage of recruitment, with Sevilla’s reported demands leaving a substantial financial decision before any move could progress.
Villa transfer link follows Spanish training camp
The enquiry claim adds a recruitment angle to a trip that also allowed Emery to prepare his squad for the Premier League restart.

For now, Agoumé is a reported target rather than an imminent signing. Whether Villa follow up the alleged enquiry with an offer remains unresolved.
