Tim Sherwood, looking to bolster Villa defence this summer and is looking to sign Micah Richards on a bosman from Manchester City, the Daily Star reports.
Aston Villa have tough competition, with Liverpool and relegation survivors Newcastle also in for the defender. The deal comes about after defensive frailties in the dying part of the season have come to fruition, noticeably after a 6-1 thrashing from Southampton, it is clear that Sherwood needs more quality and tougher players for the rigours of the Premier League.
Richards, somewhat a versatile defender has played competently at center back before, but prefers his natural position of Right back.
