Aston Villa have had a €12million bid (roughly £8.5million when converted to sterling) accepted for Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew from Lorient, as per Sky Sports.
Jordan, brother of Swansea’s Ander Ayew, bagged 12 league goals in 31 appearances last campaign and has also established himself as a regular for Ghana’s national side.
The 23-year-old is now due in Birmingham to finalise personal terms and undergo medical tests. Should everything go to plan, Ayew will become Villa’s sixth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Scott Sinclair, Indrissa Gueye, Micah Richards, Mark Bunn and Jordan Amavi.
Though Ayew is viewed by many as a direct replacement for the recently departed Christian Benteke (who joined Liverpool for £32.5million last week), it is believed the Villans will re-enter the market for another striker, with Diego Rolan of Bordeaux and Rudy Gestede of Blackburn on their radar.
Another striker reportedly on their radar is QPR’s Charlie Austin, but they face stiff competition for his signature from Newcastle, as the Magpies also look to bolster their attacking options this summer.
