Aston Villa have reportedly offered personal terms to Monaco defender, Aymen Abdennour. Duncan Castles in the Sunday Times suggests that Premier League rivals, Newcastle United have also offered terms to the Tunisian international who is valued by Monaco at £18-million.
The left-sided centre-back has created a reputation on his steely performances in the heart of Monaco’s defence – playing a vital role in the Monaco side that knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League last season.
The reported move for Abdennour comes on the same day that the Star on Sunday’s Paul Hetherington has suggested West Brom are set to let Joleon Lescott join Villa for only £2.5-million.
Castles writes that the 28-year old would prefer a move to the Premier League despite interest from Serie A outfit, AC Milan.
Abdennour was originially in talks with the European Champions, Barcelona only for the Catalonian side to pull the plug on the deal late on.
