Aston Villa are lining up a shock move for the former England and Chelsea star, Ashley Cole. Cole is currently plying his trade in Italy at A.S Roma. The Daily Star report that the 33-year old would be a available on a free transfer in January.
Cole has only featured 11 times for Roma since joining the Serie A side in the summer of 2014. The left-back has struggled to nail down a starting spot and he is looking to prolong his career elsewhere – it is believed that Villa could be a potential suitor for Cole.
The Villans are short on options at left-back with Jordan Amavi out injured for the remainder of the season.
Joe Bennett and Aly Cissokho are both also not at Villa with both out on loan at Bournemouth and Porto respectively.
An experienced head
Ashley Cole would prove to be a fantastic signing for Aston Villa despite age catching up on the former Arsenal man. He would bring a winning aura to Villa and could prove a vital calm experienced head in the dressing room and on the pitch.
