Aston Villa are set to launch an £8-million move for QPR striker, Charlie Austin in a bid to spark their fight against the threat of relegation from the Premier League.
Harry Pratt from the Star on Sunday reports how the forward, who is out of contract in the summer, is one of Villa’s top January targets as they look to find a striker capable of scoring goals in the Premier League to kickstart their campaign.
The report suggests Sunderland, Newcastle and West Brom are also keeping tabs on the former-Burnley man who Villa are watching alongside Peter Crouch and Gokhan Inler of Leicester.
Get him in ASAP – Matt Lynch
A move for Charlie Austin would give Villa a lot higher chance of survival with Austin a proven scorer in the Premier League. He has had a stop-start campaign so far this season due to injuries but he is 100% worth the risk given Villa’s current plight.
He has found the net 10 times in 16 appearances so far this season.
