Villa target has huge price tag

Aston Villa would have to shell out £14 million for Spurs winger, Andros Townsend if they were to table a bid for the out of favour England international.

The Daily Mirror report how Villa, Newcastle United, Watford, and West Bromwich Albion have all shown an interest in the wide man, but the asking fee set by Tottenham Hotspur owner, Daniel Levy is putting clubs off. Darren Lewis reports how Watford have already had a loan offer turned down as Spurs look to gather funds to bring in Saido Berahino and Victor Wanyama.

Townsend is reportedly annoyed with the high transfer fee – given his lack of playing time. And he believes it could hamper any chances he has of getting in the England squad.

The former-QPR loanee has not played since October and he had a spat with the Spurs coaching staff in Villa’s loss at White Hart Lane last month.

He is training with the development squad currently.
