Villa eye Montpellier Defender

Villa eye Montpellier Defender

Aston Villa are to launch a move for the 30-year old French defender, Daniel Congre from Ligue 1 outfit, Montpellier HSC.

Tribal Football picked up on an article from L’Equipe who report how the centre-back come right-back’s contract runs out in the summer so a move to Villa Park could be done cheaply.

Since joining Montpellier in 2012, he has made 116 appearances performing consistently while also finding the net three times. He has played for France at youth level but nothing beyond that.

French journalist, Jonathon Johnson believes that Congre is ‘not good enough’ though in a Tweet to some Villa fans.

A Hutton upgrade or not? – Matt Lynch

A move for Daniel Congre would bring experience to the side, but not Premier League experience. He is arguably a veteran of the French league.

I think Hutton is good enough to see us through this season with other areas certainly more important than right-back when it comes to January upgrades.
