Greek club interested in Villa duo

The new manager of AEK Athens, Gus Poyet, is keen to take Aston Villa duo Gabriel Agbonlahor and Charles N’Zogbia to the Greek side, according to TalkSport.

The pair seem surplus to requirements at Villa both moving down the pecking order since the arrival of Remi Garde, and both could leave in January if a side can do a deal with the Midlands-based club.

N’Zogbia’s current contract runs out in the summer, so he is free to talk to foreign clubs now ahead of a potential move at the end of the season, however Villa could look to sell him in January to ensure they get a tranfrer fee, and get his wages off the books.

However, the former French international reportedly earns over £63,000-a-week at Villa, so he’d obviously be reluctant to leave now as no other clubs would pay him so much.

Agbonlahor is Villa’s longest serving player but he too looks certain to leave as Garde has obviously not been impressed enough by him.

Villa are fighting for their Premier League survival and the money they bring in for the pair could go towards bringing in some new recruits.
