Villa target Utrecht striker

Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Utrecht striker, Sebastian Haller, who is also being targeted by Norwich City, Bournemouth and Sunderland.

Adrian Jajumba reports for The Mirror how Norwich have already launched a £5-million bid for the French under-21 international, but The Villans amongst others are also sniffing around.

Haller only joined the Dutch Eredivisie side in the summer from Auxerre, but he has quickly found his feet for Utrecht scoring on 11 occasions so far this campaign in 16 appearances.

He previously spent the second half of last season on loan at Utrecht where he scored 11 times in 17 appearances. His record at international level also bodes well with the Frenchman bagging seven goals in 12 games.

In his only season for Auxerre played 37 times scoring on only eight occasions, but since then he has grown as a player.

A striker is clearly a top priority for all the clubs linked so it could be interesting to see where he ends up.
