Sheffield Wednesday move in for Joe Bennett

Joe Bennett has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season from Aston Villa. Wednesday’s official club website confirmed.

The 25-year old impressed in the Championship last season under Chris Hughton’s Brighton side making 42 appearances for the club.

However, this clearly wasn’t enough to warrant him game time at Villa having only made one appearance so far which was off the bench in the Capital One Cup. Bennett was loaned out to Premier League newcomers Bournemouth on deadline day back in September but failed to make an appearance for the Cherries and was recalled due to an Achilles injury.

Bennett has only played 38 times for The Claret and Blue side since joining for £2.75m in August 2012. He will hope to get some more game time under his belt at Wednesday providing he passes his medical today and push on to help them secure a play-off place come the end of the season.
