The only transfer saga involving Aston Villa signing a player this window has been the chase of Croatian goalkeeper, Lovre Kalinic.
News outlets including the Daily Mail reported last week in England and Croatia how a move had collapsed for the shot-stopper, but earlier this week it was reignited with The Villans going for a second work permit appeal for Kalinic.
The Birmingham Mail report though that the second appeal to get Kalinic playing in England has failed with his work permit being turned down. The FA turned down the appeal with the Mail suggesting it is due to Kalinic’s lack of appearances for his country – which fits the regulations set out.
It will sum up a frustrating window for Remi Garde who has failed to strengthen any of his squad let alone one of his priorities in a goalkeeper with Brad Guzan dropped due to poor form.
Remi Garde said in his press conference though that he may still be able to get some fresh faces in before the window slams shut on Monday night.
For many reasons it is difficult for us to sign players at the moment. Before Monday I’m still hoping that I can have more players.
