Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan has become a surprise target for two Premier League sides as well as the MLS with his time at Villa Park potentially coming to an end this summer.
Grant Wahl reports for Sports Illustrated that Guzan, who recently stated in an interview with www.mlssoccer.com that he didn’t know what was going to happen with his career at the Midlands side with his current contract in its last year.
The USA shot-stopper has had a difficult past two seasons at Villa though despite making 144 appearances since joining in 2008 from Chivas USA. Last season Tim Sherwood opted to drop Guzan in Villa’s run in to save their Premier League status in favour for Shay Given and then again this season Mark Bunn was preferred over the former-Chicago Fire man.
The last few years have been frustrating for Guzan though with fans getting on his back for many costly errors in the Premier League. Despite his tough time at Villa he has been through the good times too starring in Villa’s run to the Carling Cup Final in 2010.
It’s not quite clear where Guzan could go in the MLS with many sides already filling their three designated player spots. He is currently on international duty with the USA as they prepare for their Copa America campaign.
