Villa lead the race for Costa Rica midfielder

According to Inside Futbol, Championship side Aston Villa are now leading the race for Costa Rica midfielder, Yeltsin Tejeda.

Villa, who are joined in the race for the defensive midfielder by Spanish side Getafe, are said to be the closest out of the pair for the 24-year-old’s signature.

Tejeda is currently playing with French side Evian, and both clubs who are said to be interested in his services were relegated from their respective leagues last season.

Evian snapped up their star from Costa Rican outfit Saprissa back in 2014, when he signed on the dotted line on a four-year-deal in France.

However, despite his performances, Evian couldn’t avoid relegation from Ligue 2 last season, following their third from bottom finish with just 39 points to their name from 38 fixtures.

Tejeda was representing Costa Rica in the Copa America in the United States this summer, but his country were eliminated from the tournament in the group stage.
