Aston Villa have tabled a £4.1 million bid for the Hella Verona goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollina according to reports.

The Birmingham Mail report that Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is keen to add a new keeper to his ranks before the squad fly out for a training camp in Austria.

It’s said that new goalkeeping coach Massimo Battara has helped recommend the 21 year old, who once had a spell at Manchester United during his youth days.

Di Matteo has been in the market for a new keeper with Brad Guzan set to potentially leave Villa Park this summer with the likes of Middlesbrough said to be interested in the American shot stopper.

Last season Gollina made 26 appearances in the Serie A for Verona.

Brad Guzan and Mark Bunn were both given game time last season but it is clear neither have impressed new manager Roberto Di Matteo.
