Aston Villa and Newcastle are both showing an interest in the ex-Bayern Munich striker Ivica Olic according to reports in Germany.
The German newspaper, Bild say that both Championship sides are eyeing up a move for the Croat to help in their ascent back to the Premier League but face a challenge with 1860 Munich circling also.
Olic most recently spent two years with Bundesliga side Hamburg where he only played 169 minutes of football last season, failing to score.
The 36-year-old has had a glittering career including being a Champions League runner-up twice with Bayern Munich, winning all German domestic cups and the Bundesliga crown.
His last most prolific spell came during his time at Wolfsburg where in the 2013/14 season when he found the net 14 times in 32 appearances. He hasn’t really found that form again, but his powerful presence is said to be a factor in Villa and Newcastle’s pursuit.
