Aston Villa are one of the teams who are hoping to take Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on loan in January, according to a report from John Cross of The Mirror.
The 23-year-old is understandably finding game time hard to come by at Old Trafford with David De Gea the clear number one and Sergio Romero is the established back-up. Therefore, United and the player are keen to secure a loan that could help him with his development.
According to the report, Aston Villa, Wolves and Nottingham Forest are the three teams in contention to sign Johnstone and it seems like United will be the ones who decide where he goes.
They’ll want him to go somewhere where he will feature regularly and if Villa are interested, it might suggest that Steve Bruce is not entirely comfortable with the goalkeeping options he currently has at his disposal.
