Bruce considering McGregor reunion

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is considering bringing Scotland international Allan McGregor to the club in the summer, according to reports.

Covered in the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are in desperate need of a goalkeeper once the transfer window reopens, with currently loanee Sam Johnstone due to return to parent club Manchester United in the summer and with Pierluigi Gollini only six months into his 18-month loan with Italian side Atalanta.

McGregor, currently on loan with Cardiff City from Hull, was signed to the Tigers by Bruce back in 2013.

Returning to Britain after a year’s stint in Turkey, McGregor quickly established himself as first-choice under Bruce, but a number of injury problems has seen the Scot drop down the pecking order.

Despite having a year left on his contract, McGregor could be set to leave this summer as he remains third choice behind fellow Scot David Marshall and Eldin Jakupović.
