Aston Villa interested in PAOK striker Athanasiadis

According to Greek news outlet Contra, Aston Villa are interested in PAOK striker Stefanos Athanasiadis with Steve Bruce being a fan of the striker.

Athanasiadis only played five times for PAOK last campaign, scoring three goals which is a very good return but the game time doesn’t seem enough for him to be a key man at Villa, so he is likely to be a backup to Jonathan Kodjia, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Scott Hogan.

The Greek striker has been at PAOK since 2007 but has only made 110 appearances for the Greek side, he did spend a year on loan to Panserraikos in 2009, but he may want to leave to get regular football for a bigger side considering the World Cup is coming up and he would want to be in the squad if Greece qualify.

He has got 12 Greece caps but scoring no goals in that time, he made his first appearance for the national side in 2011 in a 1-1 draw against Ecuador.
