Aston Villa parted company with Bjorn Engels this summer after he fell down the pecking order, meaning they would need a replacement ahead of the new season.
Football Insider say Villa are confident of bringing Axel Tuanzebe back to the Midlands, so they may have found Engels’ successor. And given the 23-year-old preformed so well in a previous stint at Villa, the reaction to this story has been positive on social media.
Tuanzebe spent 18 months with the Villans (January 2018 – May 2018) (August 2018 – May 2019) and went on to make 35 appearances in all competitions, assisting one goal. The centre-back was part of the Villa side that earned promotion back to the Premier League, so his contribution is historic.
Dean Smith having Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa, Kortney Hause and Tuanzebe would make for a strong selection of centre-backs, but there’s still a long way to go with this deal.
Manchester United are willing to let the 23-year-old leave as he started only nine games last season and could be replaced by Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, but Villa would still need to agree a deal.
In other news, there’s been some negativity on social media as Liverpool are linked with John McGinn
