Wesley Moraes has become somewhat of a forgotten man at Aston Villa as he’s spent so long out of action with injury, let alone how infrequently how posts on social media, but he’s finally given fans an update on Instagram about how pre-season is going.
The 24-year-old made only three appearances in all competitions last season as he hadn’t long returned from injury before the campaign was up, but he’ll be hoping to hit the ground running in 2021. Wesley could kick things off in a pre-season friendly against Walsall on Wednesday night, but time will tell.
Wesley has enjoyed his summer break and came into pre-season fit, so there’s no reason why he can’t pick up where he left off. Ollie Watkins netted 16 goals across the board last season but could benefit from the Brazilian taking the scoring burden off his shoulders.
Fans would love to see Wesley face Walsall and get through the game unscathed, but the decision will be down to Dean Smith. If he’s ready, he should play, as the Brazilian will need more match fitness than those around him.
