Matty Cash posts on social media after celebrating one-year anniversary

Matty Cash joined Aston Villa from Nottingham Forest in September 2020 and has gone on to make 31 appearances in all competitions, picking up two assists. The 24-year-old has been a regular ever since he made the switch to Villa Park and marked his one-year anniversary with a post on Instagram.

Cash featured 28 times in his debut season at Villa, keeping Ahmed Elmohamady sidelined while forcing Frederic Guilbert out on loan. Elmohamady was released at the end of the season and Guilbert couldn’t get into the team, so he’s gone out on loan again.

Cash has four more years remaining on his deal and the sky is the limit. If the right-back didn’t have Kyle Walker, Keiran Trippier, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James ahead of him for England, he might have had a chance of playing under Gareth Southgate.

The supportive messages from former and existing players shows how much he’s already loved at Villa. Dean Smith’s men travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday afternoon and Cash should keep his place in the starting lineup.
