Fans on social media looking forward to John McGinn being available for selection

Aston Villa have already been given a boost ahead of Saturday’s trip to face Chelsea with Leon Bailey returning to training, but they’ve been given another from John McGinn.

Villa confirmed on their official website that the 26-year-old is available for selection after isolating as per government guidelines for Covid-19. McGinn missed Villa’s last two games and Scotland’s World Cup qualifier with Denmark, but he returned to play in their last two internationals.

The box-to-box midfielder was left out of Villa’s League Cup win over Barrow (August 24) and 1-1 draw with Brentford (August 28) while missing Scotland’s 2-0 defeat to Denmark. McGinn played just over an hour of their 1-0 win over Moldova and a full 90 minutes in their 1-0 win over Austria, however.

Dean Smith will be delighted to have him back, but fans are excited on social media too, naming their starting XIs to face Chelsea with McGinn included.

Carney Chukwuemeka started against Brentford but may sit out against the Blues. Douglas Luiz was a regular partner alongside McGinn last season, so might the pair start in midfield against Chelsea?
